To Blog or Not to Blog...that is the equestrian.
I have really struggled with my blog...with it's content mostly. In the meantime, I've just been posting photos with little blips about what I cooked, what the cat's are up to, etc. Should I stay on this horse..or get the hell off?
Recently a Sacramento publication listed all of the food bloggers in Sacramento..except mine. The writer of the piece told me she got her info from two "popular" local food blogs...where they list other food blogs they like.. and mine wasn't listed on either blog. She also asked someone at The Bee.
I haven't been committed to the food blog lately..that is for sure. I've actually felt pretty stuck..in a real rut in my life.. and ended up going to counseling for several months to try to figure it out. All I really know is what I don't want to do..which is a good thing.
I don't want to kiss anyone's ass, I don't like putting up with/or hanging out with people I don't particularly enjoy. I don't want to hang out with people who don't particularly enjoy my company either. Makes sense. I don't like cooking classes...no matter how much I like the instructor. Maybe it's cause I don't like group stuff much...unless it's a very casual dining experience with people I consider to be friends.
I hate to follow recipe's and I hate to write them out. I usually just make stuff up as I go along. I don't regret cooking and blogging through Marlena's cookbook...that was great! I learned a lot about myself and made a few special friends as a result. I've done a few things on this blog that I'm really proud of.
I don't like bullshit. I'm tired of bullshitting myself. I'm tired of people who bullshit me. No more BS. I've fucked up in the past, I'll fuck up again...but am aiming at very few as the years go on. I'm tired of explaining myself and won't do it anymore. Let bygone's be begonia's. I'm moving on. Still not sure what I'll end up doing. We'll see. I do like to laugh...plan to do more of that!

Mel,
Sounds like you need to do what makes you happy. I know I stay away from blogging because it seems too tedious. I know what you mean- live in the moment. I am terrible about writing my recipes down. You have great things to say, I'm sure you will find a way to get your voice heard, blog or no blog. Do your thing, girl. No one said you can't change your mind.
I just went through a few months of not blogging & wondering whether to quit. Then I realized that I don't care if anyone reads it, I do it when I do it because I enjoy it. Simple.
Indeed...to both of you! Thanks. :)
Very well expressed. I, too, have a problem with group activities. I like cooking by myself. I get extremely uncomfortable when a lot of people want to come in the kitchen while I'm cooking. This is why I could never work in a restaurant.
As for whether or not to blog, it's really up to you. Do you like writing when thoughts or ideas come to you. Do you find it stressful? If you enjoy it, by all means keep going. Try not to be concerned about whether or not others are reading it. I know, easier said than done. I like reading about your garden and your cats.
You are a light, Melody- remain in good spirits.
I'm not one for group sports, either.
Follow your bliss.
I'm sending you vibes. xxx
Sounds as if you're doing a lot of interior wOrk-- and I don't mean decorating! as the song says "do whatcha ya wanna do!"
I've been reading your blog since I saw it on CH and I've missed you when you didn't write. But, you have to do what You want to do with this one way ticket we're all holding...
Be well, be safe, be happy.
Gio. Yep. That one.
Gio...Holy Shit! Who knew?
Thanks...so much for reading. <3
I love your blog and you but you need to make yourself happy. I blog because for me it's my relaxation, I find it relaxing to sit here and write and I do it just because I like to. I don't care if anyone reads it or if I'm on someones list. It always amazes me that I am. I am social, I like group activites and crowds but I think your blog is way more interesting than mine. Maybe you should just blog about what is in your heart rather than thinking you have to blog about food. Just pictures are great, they show what your interested in and that part of your life..
Do what you gotta do and enjoy yourself.
Eileen...you know I love ya like a sister..or maybe you don't. But I do.
I don't believe you when you say that you don't care if anyone reads your blog. Of course you care! We all care when we have our blogs "out there". If we didn't, we do personal and private journals about our cooking experiences.
Thanks for your comment. :)
BTW...nobody has commented yet on my "way with words". Did everyone miss it?
The laughter is always the best part!
"Let bygone's be begonia's" is a good way to look at things. It's good to take a look at life and make decisions based on what you actually want as opposed to what you have to do.
I really appreciate your recipes and have made several of them so the Sacramento publication should get with it and stay up to date.
Whatever you decide to do I'm cheer you on.

I appreciate all of your comments and support. No shit! :)
