I Love My GARDEN

I have sage, thyme, oregano, roses ready to bloom, and lemons..and rosemary. My lavender looks great. I absolutely love going outside to cut stuff for cooking, for eye-candy, and for the great smells. There is nothing like it! I'll have a huge bouquet of pink and yellow roses tomorrow...and I always give the first one to my MIL. We have rhubarb to plant tomorrow...which reminds me of my childhood. Seems we always had tons of it growing in the back yard...sprinkle a bit of salt on those warm, ruby red stems..it was heaven. We love it in a pie..with strawberries.

Salt on rhubarb? Hmm, we always used sugar. Then again, I used to put sugar on my my oranges. I'll never be sweet enough.

Yep..salt on rhubarb, salt on fresh-picked tomatoes still warm from the sun, salt in Old Milwaukee beer.

But, where is your Basil?

I told you, I put sugar on my tomato slices - I had never heard of anything so odd as putting salt on them.

do you know what to do with flat leaf parsley when it flowers? I don't know if I should just cut it down or let it go to seed.

I just went out and got some thyme and oregano to add to the basil, sage and rosemary. I also bought froo-froo smelling soap for my bathroom. I think I'm turning into a girl.

Eileen, I just let my herbs flower and then go to seed. The leaves are most tender before the flowering. If I let them go to seed, I have more herbs growing all the time.

Hahn, you ARE turning into a girl! I can't grow basil. The slugs get it, it dies, I don't know what the deal is.

AHHH!! My heirloom tomato babies all dried up and died while I was gone and so did my cilantro which were growing really well for the first time in years! I'll have to make sure I have a plant waterer whenever I go away.. hubby just doesn't cut it!
