Hands-off Cooking

Ann Martin Rolke wrote this fabulous cookbook. Ann also has a local blog http://www.sacatomato.com/, writes for Edible Sacramento and teaches cooking classes. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and Duke University, edits cookbooks (I have several on my shelf that she copyedited), she is a great chef and top-notch mom. She is also very kind-hearted.

She brought us some Caribbean Black Bean Soup the other day, along with some pumpkins and delicious bread. The recipe is included in her book, http://www.handsoffcooking.com/ She substituted the sweet potatoes with pumpkin and added some smoked turkey sausage that she got at Trader Joe's. So delicious. I am making her "Year-Round Corn Chowder" today.

My ankle is all better now...and Dave's shingles are "better" too. Thanks Ann! Go buy her book! I got mine at Avid Reader, but I've seen it at Borders as well.
